Sandblasting - Blast & Paint- Abrasive Blasting

What is sandblasting / abrasive blasting?

Sandblasting or bead blasting is the process of smoothing, shaping and cleaning a hard surface by forcing solid particles across that surface at high speeds; the effect is similar to that of using sandpaper, but provides a more even and clean finish with no problems at corners or crannies leaving the metal ready for painting.

sandblastingSandblasting may now only be performed in a controlled environment using ventilation, protective clothing and breathing air supply due to the large amount of dust that it creates. While bead blasting is technically a different process, many industrial employees use the two interchangeably

CIPS has specialized Blast & Paint facilities to provide paint removal, preparation and specialized coatings application to metal components.

Needs for sandblasting may include

  • Specialized engineering fabrication firms aiming to add value to their products.
Substrates ranging from cast iron to mild steel can be grit blasted leaving the surface clean and with a suitable profile for the application of the coating
  • Reconditioning of used plant & equipment.
  • Paint shop cleaning including slave tools, floor grates, trolleys and jigs.
  • Removal of defective coatings
